COVID-19 has exacerbated existing inequities for people of color and compounded the impact of historical and structural racism on their health and wellbeing. The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding provides a unique opportunity to address two pandemics: COVID-19 and systemic racism – both of which have had devastating impacts on the health and well-being of our most historically under-resourced communities.
We hope that community members and CBOs will use these tools in English and Spanish (see below) to talk about ARPA and COVID’s impact on communities of color. They are intended for advocacy efforts such as holding community meetings, presentations with City Councils or County Boards of Supervisors, interviews with local and ethnic media and elevating conversations and priorities on your social media platforms.
